Among the various influences on the world of fashion, the object of my data story is to show how leisure travel affects the newest trends in the clothing industry. I will compare the latest world fashion events in Milan, Paris and New York and their design patterns and similarities, with the most popular tourist destinations of 2018. 

 

First, by examining the brain's response to travel through its ability to increase cognitive creativity, it's clear how foreign destinations can influence a designer's ideas. 

“Foreign experiences increase both cognitive flexibility and depth and integrativeness of thought, the ability to make deep connections between disparate forms,” says Adam Galinsky, a professor at Columbia Business School.

In this article, fashion is described as a popular behaviour in a group, derived from its appropriate symbolic representation during a certain time or situation.This can be influenced by new places or people around the world. It is also based on marketing and wide scale selling of their clothing items, hoping that it will reach the liking of people from various areas around the world. Those who travel are more likely to be accustomed to different modes of style, therefore will be a strong suitor to buy foreign brand names.
